BRIDGE(Better Responsibility Initiative - Design for Good Earth)
About BRIDGE Action
Design for good earth. Build sustainable bridges.
Ever since the United Nations proposed 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), its significance and importance have been increasingly growing and broadening. Especially the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has made people think more about what on earth the “normal” world should be. Based on this background, Zhejiang University will host BRIDGE (Better Responsibility Initiative - Design for Good Earth) Sustainable Design Action this summer. It focuses on the SDGs and brings together design talents from universities and companies around the world to address the SDGs using the design language, attempting to "construct" a bridge to a sustainable future through the lens of design.
The BRIDGE action will be launched mainly from August 8th to September 11, 2021. It mainly has three stages: Vision, Design, and Action. In the Vision stage from August 8 to September 3, student teams carry out field research and discuss the issues to broaden their insights into SDGs and sustainable design; professors and experts from universities and enterprises give keynote speeches relevant to the theme. In the Design stage from September 4 to 11, student teams would transform their insights gained from the vision stage into proposals with the design language and present their outcomes in Sep 11; judging panel will review the review the proposals and award the excellent teams. The extremely outstanding students or teams have the opportunities to work with expertise mentors to improve their design proposals and put it into practice in the Action stage.
